I found this on the Aussie Conservative blog. It is about a South African urge to deny white men the right to vote in retaliation for apartheid and other racial injustices. There are a few reasons I want to highlight on why this would be a bad idea. First, it will only continue the cycle of hate and resentment. Blacks resented whites for depriving them of their rights, which I do admit is natural. If someone took my rights, I would be, too. However, following that logic, it would only be natural that if you took these rights away from white men, they’d be resentful because that would be denying their own rights. In that sense, blacks and other people who aren’t white who support this would be no better than the white oppressors of the past. Ultimately, two wrongs does not make a right. Additionally, it is wrong to punish a child for his father’s crime, especially when he didn’t commit it. Whoever heard of a father committing murder or theft or rape or any other crime known to man then punishing his child for what he did? That is completely illogical and will also fuel the resentment cycle. Then, when white men get power again, they too will be tempted to deprive their black compatriots of the same rights they were deprived of. Taking away voting rights or property or anything along those lines won’t solve anything.
Enjoy!
